We used the ELSA (English Literacy Skills Assessments) on candidates we would like to employ as factory workers as well as workers in some other positions. These tests give a very accurate picture of the candidate’s communication, numeracy, English comprehension as well as other skills. These tests are indispensable in the personnel management area of business to professionally gauge the skills of a candidate. Most notably, these tests are easy to conduct, well priced and go a very long way in screening candidates. I would recommend that all companies use these tools to assess new candidates and existing staff for accurate data on their literacy and numeracy. We will not hire another candidate or promote an employee without first doing the appropriate level test.
